Situated on the plateau of the Scottish River Spey and surrounded by a 196-hectare estate, The Macallan Distillery was one of Scotland's first legally licensed distilleries in the country.
Since its founding in 1824 by school teacher Alexander Reid and due to his obsession with quality, its whiskeys have become one of the world's leading single malt whiskeys.
Its reputation for seeking the extraordinary is due to the exceptional oak barrels that are sought after, crafted, and toasted under close supervision to ultimately guarantee and achieve single malt quality and style.
The quality of the whiskey depends largely on the oak barrels in which it matures and which will ultimately determine up to 80% of the final flavor and character of The Macallan.
Likewise, the characteristic color of this whiskey comes entirely from the wood in which they mature, which is a natural material, coming from different trees and which in turn transmit different flavors and colors. For this reason, The Macallan team, made up of incredible experts, are in charge of homogenizing the whiskey so that the color is as uniform as possible and once again guarantee the excellence of their product.
