Description
In the past, it was common to burn peat towards the end of the malting process to dry out the barley and thus produce the warm, earthy smoky aroma.
The subtle smoke with sherry tones from the casks gives the traditional character of Glendronach.
On the nose, dry, slightly phenolic, maritime smoke and juicy dark berries is the first thing we notice, behind it a touch of fresh citrus and a touch of dry chocolate.
The combination of this delicate peat smoke and the influence of the sherry cask gives it the touch. Nothing exceptional, but it's a nice combination.
Very delicate smoke flavor hits the palate in harmony with creamy chocolate notes.
Again, the malt has a somewhat maritime, here the berries also do well. At the end the smoke gently subsides, followed by some wood with notes of maritime herbs and a subtle sweetness.
Flawless transition towards a more or less long finish.
