Description
At Bodega Numanthia we want to preserve our unique heritage. All work in the vineyards is done manually to maintain the balance of the vines and the quality of the grapes. The vines are grown without irrigation and organically without pesticides.
The production and selection of the best grapes from the Toro 'terroir' is the basis of its different wines. Its grape, Tinta de Toro, is recognized as 'the reddest of the red grapes'. Native and unique, it offers great concentration, balanced tannins and abundant elegant notes.
A member of the Tempranillo family, its 'Tinta de Toro' was successfully adapted to the 'terroir' of Toro, producing very low yields, among the lowest in the world. This small and highly concentrated grape offers great potential and unique complexity.
Bodega Numanthia, like an uncut diamond in the rough, needs expert hands to cultivate it, to obtain the most complex, powerful and elegant.
At Bodega Numanthia they take care of a historical heritage made up of 200 hectares of vineyards in the towns of Toro, Morales de Toro, Valdefinjas, Venialbo, El Pego and Argujillo.
They manage a mosaic of 200 plots scattered throughout the D.O. Toro, located on both sides of the Duero River.
The diversity of these vineyards ensures a wide range of terroir expressions. Bodega Numanthia is the only winery in the region that so fully represents the diversity of the D.O. Toro with its 8 types of terroirs.
Each terroir has its own characteristics and provides a distinctive expression of Tinta de Toro.
Each plot is vinified separately before being carefully blended by our winemakers. The result is a wine with a unique balance of power and elegance.
Guardians of their heritage, they are dedicated to making wines that genuinely reflect the generosity of these century-old vineyards. When you enjoy a wine from their house, they want you to savor the complexity of their diversity of terroirs that allow them to create wines with unusual texture, vitality and beauty.
