Description
The name Ararat comes from the famous Mount Ararat, the most respected symbol of culture and national identity in Armenia, a source of vitality and pride. ArArAt is also the location of one of the oldest vineyards in the world.
Armenian brandy production was started in 1887 in Yerevan by merchant and philanthropist Nerses Tairyan, who was the first to introduce classical technology French alcohol production factory. He was inspired by his cousin, Vasily Tairov, who was an experienced winemaker and scientist. No one else recognized the gift of nature as well as he did: the unique conditions of the Ararat Valley and the high quality of the local grapes.
With the financial support of friends and family, the production was equipped with Charante-type distillers and the premises were conditioned for the aging of brandies. Their entrepreneurial instincts did not fail the brothers, their company became a technological breakthrough and opened up new prospects for the brandy business in Armenia.
