La leyenda de LUIS FELIPE comienza en 1893 con el hallazgo en una bodega de La Palma del Condado de unas barricas de roble que contenían un brandy envejecido distinto a todo lo conocido hasta entonces.
Aquellas barricas casi olvidadas estaban señaladas con la mención LUIS FELIPE por haber sido reservadas para el Duque de Montpensier, hijo del Rey de Francia Luis Felipe I, que residió en el sevillano palacio de San Telmo hasta 1890.
