Scourmont Abbey is one of the few Trappist breweries beers still produced today.
Chimay is known to provide a wide range of Trappist beer made from the monastic traditions where only 100% natural ingredients were used.
The Red Chimay is one of the oldest beer of the abbey, the first beer was made was in 1862 and at that time already known for being a beer that gave off a very light complex aroma with hints fruity little notes of apricot, its taste is very silky with soft bitterness.

Durante el verano de 1850, un pequeño grupo de monjes se instaló en la meseta salvaje de Scourmont, cerca de Chimay. Alrededor del monasterio, se construyeron una granja, una cervecería y una fábrica de queso.
