balvenie distillery

Balvenie se construyó en un sitio de 12 acres adyacente a Glenfiddich en 1892/3.  Originalmente conocido como Glen Gordon, tomó el nombre del enorme (en ruinas) castillo que se encontraba al lado.  El "nuevo" castillo, ya abandonado en 1893, se convirtió en malterías.
La destilería proporcionó rellenos, principalmente para la mezcla de Grant's Standfast, hasta 1973, cuando se realizó el primer embotellado oficial. Sus continuos requisitos como contribuidor de mezclas inicialmente restringieron su crecimiento como una marca independiente (aunque aumentaba su estatus de culto). Esto se alivió un poco con la apertura de Kininvie en 1990, pero fue solo con la construcción de Ailsa Bay que finalmente se hicieron disponibles más acciones. Ahora es una de las marcas de malta única de más rápido crecimiento en el mundo.
