1846 was the year that Isidor Henius factory in the city of Aalborg was founded, spirits Aalborg Akvavit Taffel was one of the first products the company brought to the market.

Danish Distillers fue fundada en 1881 por CF Tietgen y CA Olesen. En ese momento ambos eran hombres de negocios emprendedores, y su objetivo común era fusionar varias destilerías más pequeñas y crear una empresa que pudiera exportar aquavit a los países productores de vino.
