Description
Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 years old is produced by the traditional Port wine method. The hand-picked grapes undergo stem removal and crushing before fermentation, at a controlled temperature, with maceration of the skin to extract the best components. The addition of wine alcohol at the ideal time establishes the balance between the body and the aroma of the wine. This moment is chosen by the winemaker following a strict control of fermentation temperatures and densities, depending later on the vine variety, the stage of maturation and the required final sweetness. After the harvest, the wines remain in the Douro until the following spring, when they are taken to VNGaia and enter Sandeman's centuries-old shelters to age in oak barrels, as required by the traditional Porto Wine aging system. Over the years, the exceptional wines selected for this Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 Year Old are carefully tasted and analysed, removed from the lees and made as many corrections as the tasters deem necessary. The final blend is the result of the strictest selection of wines, generally between 25 and 40 years old, masterfully and skilfully blended to achieve the unique identity, style and consistency of Sandeman Porto Tawny 30 Year Old.
