In 1885 Felipe Lagunilla had an ambitious dream: to found the wineries that now bear his name. He was a pioneer in the introduction of American grafts in the Rioja Alta vineyards, which were resistant to the phylloxera plague. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of Agricultural Merit by King Alfonso XIII. More than a hundred years later, Bodegas Lagunilla combines the tradition and experience of its masters winemakers with the most modern techniques and strict quality control to produce great traditional wines in Rioja Alta.
