Description
Marqués de Riscal is committed to making a wine with the least possible intervention, wanting to highlight the varietal purity and the character of the terroir in this area of the Duero. Respect for the environment, the native fauna and the ecosystem makes cultivation more sustainable and lengthens the life of our vineyards as a future guarantee of the quality of its wines.
The French variety Sauvignon Blanc, with the that Marqués de Riscal produces this monovarietal, has its origin in the Loire region. It was introduced by Marqués de Riscal in Rueda in 1974 and today the winery owns 70 hectares of vineyards with an average age of over 25 years. It is currently one of the varieties authorized by the Rueda Denomination of Origin thanks to its great adaptability to the environment and its ability to produce white wines with great aromatic intensity, good acid balance and minerality.
El Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon follows the same production process as Rueda Verdejo. After a period of cold maceration and after the extraction and clarification of the must, the slow fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature, to protect the primary aromas so peculiar to this variety. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in contact with its fine lees, with the intention of increasing the sensation of volume in the mouth and improving its aging capacity.
