Born in England in 1816, Hiram Walker traveled to western Michigan in the early 1830s seeking his fortune. After failing in a few businesses, he later succeeded, opening a grocery store in Detroit. There he learned how to distill his own cider vinegar and started greening it cheaply. After a while he began to think about devoting himself to whiskey distillation. His first barrels were produced in 1854 and were noted for their quality and purity. Bored with the atmospheric temperature of Michigan and attracted by the good farmland provided by the new rail lines on the Canadian side of the river, Walker decided to change of airs In 1856, he bought a piece of land from a French farm for 300 pounds. Shortly thereafter he bought another piece of French land. Walker began clearing his property of trees and later began building a Whiskey distillery, bought and planted grain, began grinding flour and raising pigs. He fed the pigs with the leftover grain from the distillery and soon after built a large house to house the employees and thus began to grow his business. At that time, distillers sold their products in unmarked casks, but Hiram Walker set a great precedent by putting his product in bottles bearing his name: Walker's Club Whiskey. Their product immediately caught on and became the first Canadian Whiskey brand to be labeled anywhere in the world. The United States government, forced by pressure from Walker's competitors, forced him to add the word Canadian to the name. If a phrase defines Canadian Club Small Batch Classic Reserva de 12 Años, it is this: Patience leads to perfection. Carefully selected from cask blended whiskies, it is aged for 12 years to create an exceptionally rich and smooth Whiskey.
