The 12-year-old Macallan double cask is part of our double cask range, which combines the classic style of macallan and the unmistakable sweetness of American oak. This whiskey is a fully rounded single malt in perfect balance, with flavors of honey, citrus and ginger. With an unwavering commitment to putting sherry casks at the heart of the macallan single malts, our reputation for the extraordinary is a testament to the exceptional oak casks in which we mature our whisky. Sourced, crafted, roasted and seasoned under the watchful eye of the macallan master of wood, these carefully selected barrels are delivered to the exacting specifications of the macallan master distiller and his team. Once full, the maturing spirit remains intact in the same barrels for the necessary number of years it needs to be worthy of the intended macallan expression. It is these oak barrels that make the greatest contribution to the quality, natural color, and distinctive aromas and flavors that lie at the heart of The Macallan malt.

The Macallan Estate is located on the banks of the iconic River Spey in the Speyside region of Scotland. They were licensed to distil in 1824, although whisky may have been produced on the estate for much longer.
Founded by Alexander Reid, the distillery is situated on our 485 acre estate, with their historic Easter Elchies House at its centre. They are custodians of this beautiful land and its people.
From the wild Atlantic salmon swimming up the River Spey to the red squirrels and pheasants living in our woodlands, their commitment is to ensure that all wildlife, ecology and landscape flourish on the estate, supported by their own Habitat Management Plan.
