Its origins date back to 1866. The entrepreneur Charles Lamothe and his associate Pedro Jiménez founded a company in Malaga dedicated to the distillation and aging of wines and brandies.
It is in 1916 when the third Marquis of Larios, José Aurelio Larios, in his efforts to open up new industrial perspectives and in order to associate the name of Casa Larios with the most prestigious national and foreign wineries, acquires the company Jiménez & Lamothe as payment for a loan and converts it into Larios & Cía.  In 1933 Larios y Cia. disappeared, giving way to the new reason Larios SA, which at that time incorporated gin into its products, as famous throughout the world as the 1866 brandy itself.
Larios continues a traditional manufacturing process that is used for London Dry Gins. These gins are made specifically without the addition of flavoring extracts, and from the redistillation of the alcohol with a selection of botanical ingredients.
