In 1888, Spyros Metaxa, by blending only the finest distilled wine matured from select sun-soaked Attica grapes. This enthusiastic young businessman thought his tavern wasn't good enough. He was looking for more elegance, more challenges, so he decided to dedicate himself to distillation. He created the first brandy and participated in the founding of the first distillation plant. His dream was a drink that would conquer the world, for which he built more plants in Constantinople (now Istanbul) and Odessa. In 1900 it began to be exported to the United States and the brandy was known as the 'flying' brandy. Unfortunately, the businessman died young, but his children continued his work. That brandy was the only Greek industry that survived both world wars. In 1968 the plant was rebuilt in such a way as to guarantee the original flavor.
