It all started in Åhus, a town south of Sweden. It is said that Lars Olsson Smith inherited control of much of the production of the Swedish vodka. During the nineteenth century developed a process to distill brandy wheat, called rectification ... method that is still used today.
Unbeknownst to creating the Absolut Rent Bränvin (Absolut Vodka Pure), Olsson Smith invented a hundred years after what became known as Absolut. Swedish vodka began to be sold in 1879. While many Swedes broke publicists head wondering what type of packaging used to market the product, Peter Ekelund, Lars Börje Carlsson and Gunnar Broman, the Carlsson and Broman agency found the solution:
A completely transparent bottle without label with the letters engraved above to see through it. With silver touches and photo of its founder Lars Olsson Smith. Clearly it was a bottle of medicinal syrup! Gunnar Broman to seeing Swedish medicine bottles had the great idea of bottling vodka in those containers after all, in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, vodka was marketed as a drug that promised to cure many ills.
