The Macallan is a distillery located in Speyside whose origins were based on the production of whiskeys aged only Sherry casks from Jerez, Cadiz.
One of its whiskeys, The Macallan Fifties Travel Series, is a recreation of the style of the own distillery 50s During that time The Macallan offered a type of whiskey rich and intense, much like today's whiskeys, only a small difference, a touch of smoke from the use of peat.
The Macallan wanted to recreate that style and to do the master distiller thought of mixing bottles of that time with the aromas and flavors of today's whiskeys from the winery itself.
Thanks to this union a whiskey aroma and rich flavor of dried fruits and ginger spiced with sweet little notes of caramel and citrus along with the characteristic hint of smoke from the peat was obtained.

Founded by Alexander Reid, the distillery is situated on our 485 acre estate, with their historic Easter Elchies House at its centre. They are custodians of this beautiful land and its people.
From the wild Atlantic salmon swimming up the River Spey to the red squirrels and pheasants living in our woodlands, their commitment is to ensure that all wildlife, ecology and landscape flourish on the estate, supported by their own Habitat Management Plan.
