The St. Bernardus beer brand has its origins in the shelter Notre Dame de St Bernard, where the monks produce cheese. Once World War II ended, the monks of the abbey of St. Sixtus signed an agreement which gave them license to market its beers, a license by the husband of the daughter of the founder of St. Bernardus could renew .
