Rochefort is a trademark of Trappist beers brewed in the abbey of Rochefort, Belgium. This Belgian brewery produces three beers under the seal of Trappist beers where takes brewing since the sixteenth century at the hands of monks of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance.

Because of the damage that caused the First World War, the abbey had to rebuild the brewery with the help of Chimay, an ally monastery which in 1950 became its commercial competitor. Chimay offered help them to develop new beers offering a new brewer, which helped produce new brews known as Rochefort.

The range of beers Rochefort is the Rochefort 8 origin dates back to 1955 and is one of the beers with higher production, which was developed initially for New Year but due to its great success began to work regularly. A Rochefort 8 is a top-fermented beer made with natural products with secondary fermentation in bottle. Reddish beige foam, nose perceived aromas of sherry, liquorice and raisins that has a mild flavor roasted raisins.
