Oban se encuentra en la costa oeste de Escocia y es una de las destilerías activas más antiguas de Escocia, fundada en 1794 por Hugh, John y James Stevenson. Es una de las pocas destilerías ubicadas en un entorno urbano, ubicado en el centro de su aldea homónima, en lugar de las ubicaciones remotas de la mayoría de las destilerías.
